Acrylic Paint Art Journal

Hello everyone! Today I want to share with you something I don't often do - an Art Journal. My main inspiration behind it was the need to do stamping... a lot of stamping!!! To make it happen, I used ArtFoamies stamps and Colourcraft Eco Acrylic Paint.

To start a glued and gessoed over two pages from an old book - I like how the letting can be seen thorough the paint later on. I also like highlighting some of the words by drawing boxes around them once the page is finished.

As background, I wanted an ombre pink-to-white with some lifted mandala designs (once done, turned out I didn't really like them so they ended up being covered... yikes!).

I also painted purple spots in three columns.

First layering of stamps was done by the humble paint lid.

I dunked it in teal paint and stamped on the page.

Next was the spotty circle and green paint.

Then lines and crosses - first in white, then (without cleaning off the white) purple, pink and even some teal - I like the uneven colouring.

I left it to dry before moving to the next/last stage.

With black and white gel pens, I outlined some of the shapes, drew a frame around the page, framed some of the background wording peeking through the paint and did some general doodling all over.

The end result - a bright page and fulfilled need of stamping.

Cute, layered gift tags with Ewelina

You know that awkward time when it turns out you have forgotten about someone's birthday or when you need to say a last minute 'thank you' but a bottle of wine is all you have and seems slightly impersonal to give it without a card? I'm the queen of such situations - I'm so rubbish at remembering these things!!! So I decided to be prepared this time and make some super cute, all-occasion gift tags. 

I wanted to stamp ombre designs on the canvas tags - that was the plan... the rest just kind of happened...

I used purple and Violet orchid Opaque fabric paints which I dabbed onto the stamp and then transferred it onto the tags.

I added metal studs to reinforce the holes in the tags... Now, it was time to start improvising.

I picked Little Birdie Crafts flowers and Chipboards and a variety of Kraft tags from Canvas Corp.

After assembling little compositions on the canvas tags (and making sure that the stamped design was still visible), I layered the tags over one another and... voila!

It might be cheating a bit but now I have some emergency gift tags.. you know, just in case...

Starry Canvas Backpack with Ewelina

Yeah, paint on fabric seems to be my thing recently... 

I have a whole massive set of awesome Opaque Fabric Paints and I'm not afraid to use them.

Thankfully, I also have boxes upon boxes of various canvas products from Canvas Corp...

I'm such lucky girl, you know!!!

 

This time, I wanted to make my backpack worthy of a star...

...so I got a blank canvas bag, Art Foamies star set and various green and blue paints.

The aim was for the stars to be slightly grungy but colourful so I dabbed 2-4 different shade on each stamp before imprinting the design on fabric.

Here's what the first star looked like!

I did the same with all the remaining stars - I didn't want the stamping to be extremely neat; I love the handmade, slightly rustic look.

That's me in progress... Slightly messy but extremely satisfying!

Now, I am ready to fill my bag with some goodies and go off walking with my mini-me.

Dance - watercolour cards with Ewelina

August brought a collab between Colourcraft C&A Ltd and Crafty Roo Designs - I'm sure you've already seen projects my teamies made with the awesome stamps so... now it's my turn and, being the poor stamper on the team, I made two watercolour cards.

I started by stamping the images on A5 watercolour paper and embossing them in white and black.

I sprinkled two Brusho powders on the 'moving' side of the stamped image and blew water on it through a paper straw. Use only small amount of water to start as otherwise you'll end up with a huge colourful puddle.

For each of the dancers, I chose different colour. 

I trimmed the paper to fit card size and stamped sentiments (also from Crafty Roo).

Now all you need to do is attach your work to the card base and you're done!

Quick and easy!

Printing on Canvas Shopper Bag with Ewelina

Hey everyone! The heat-wave continues and my crafting mojo has most probably left to the beach as I haven't made it into my studio for at least a week now... it's simply too hot.

But heat or not, life goes on and I do need to crack on with my life, part of which is going shopping - I hate it with a passion!!! Since I am not a fan of purchasing my groceries online, I have to make the dreaded trip to a supermarket every week to stock up on the basics. To make it slightly more pleasant, I take my own colourful bags with me - it also means that I am more environmentally friendly by not buying any of the plastic carriers that supermarkets offer.

Amongst my stash of Canvas Corp black canvas goodies, I found this Canvas Shopper Bag

which was perfect for both - adding some funky colours to it and using for carrying  my fresh veggies from the market.

All I needed to make the first part happen was some Metallic Fabric Paints and a couple of large stencils (I opted for mandala designs as they are pretty in at the moment and look cool with ombre colouring).

To make sure the stencil stayed in place, I used large paper clips to pin it down.

After deciding on the colours I wanted to use (pink, purple, green and blue), I grabbed a sponge dauber and started playing.

Changing the colours as I went, I made sure to use a clean part of the sponge for each new colour to minimise the contamination and keep the colours vibrant.

Then the second mandala - I used the same colours but in different order.

And the third one - again, same colours but different order.

Once my mandalas were all stencilled on and dried, I decided to add a bit more detail using a different stencil and Metallic Gold Fabric Paint. To make it look like it was part of the original design, I overlaid it slightly with the original pattern.

As you can see, the two stencils worked pretty well together.

Now my shopper bag is ready for being filled with some market goodies... but I think I'll wait for the weather to cool down a bit before I brave a visit to the local market.
