Happy New Dog Card with Brusho's and Wax Resist

Hello Colourcraft friends.  Gail here today.  I've made a card today for a friend of mine.  When her old dog died she said she couldn't handle a puppy at her age so she wasn't going to get another dog.  I couldn't see that lasting and I was right.  She decided to adopt an older dog and happy together they are.  So to celebrate new beginnings and new friends I've made her a card.

I used dies to emboss the background then used wax resist and Brusho's to colour it.  I went green because it reminds me of spring, new starts, fresh growth and happy sunny times.

I started by embossing my background panel with this large paw die and filled in some of the smaller spaces with the tiny heart die.  Then I got my Brusho Wax Resist Sticks.  I took the paper off one of the sticks and used the edge to rub over the embossed design.

I sprinkled Sea Green and Leaf Green Brusho's on the card and spritzed with water.

The wax covered paws are left whiter than the background.  

I added he paw panel to a dark green base card.  I stamped Paper Smooches Dog and sentiments using brown ink and coloured the dog with Sandstone Brusho powder in water.  To finish I added a few of the tiny hearts cut from red card.

Valentine Greeting Card with Brushos and Rubber Dance Stamps

It's time for another Valentine Card. This time I used the embossing resist technique. I stamped the Rubber Dance heart with WOW! Glintz powder onto mixed media paper. I coloured everything is with my beloved Brushos.

Good Morning All, I hope you are all enjoying the festive season. One of the things about giving and receiving gifts it all the wonderful packaging they come in.  For my project today I'm altering a Whiskey Bottle Tube that my Dad had received; As he travels a lot he wants to use it to protect his Water Flosser, so he asked me to change it's appearance so it doesn't raise questions from the Customs Staff.

As a starting point I took some old map paper and collaged it onto the tube, followed by a layer of White Gesso;

I then took a stencil and applied clear embossing ink through it and coated with clear embossing powder;

I then heated it with my Heat Gun;

Then it was time to add some colour, I took the tube and put it into an old cardboard box that I use as a spray booth to catch any excess sprays. I add a layer of colour with Turquoise Brusho Acrylic Mist Spray and some water.

I then added a layer of Sea Green Brusho Acrylic Mist Spray and water.

Then I dabbed away some of the colour from the embossed areas before drying the tube with my heat gun. Here's a couple of views of the dry tube;

I wanted to add some stamping to my project, so I decided to stamp some images with permanent ink onto to deli paper; 

I stamped a few sheets of deli paper, so any leftover images can be used on future projects.  The deli paper will become barely visable once applied to the tube.  You could use tissue paper instead.

I then selected some images, and added them around the tube;

Once dry edges of the deli paper where more visible than I wanted, so I added some white gesso through a couple of stencils to blend the edges.  Here's a few views of the finished tube.

To make the tube more practical to use I added a couple of layers of spray varnish.

I'm fairly happy with how the finished tube turned out, in hindsight I would have probably added the stamped images before adding the colour; this may have blended them into the background a bit more. 

I hope you've found my process interesting, and you look at some of that leftover packaging a little differently now.  I pleased to say my Dad loved the finished tube, he's added some padding inside and it fits his Water Flosser perfectly, so will be put to good use on his next trip.

Positive Affirmations with Ewelina

Hey, arty people! It's time to share my second instalment for the August collab between Colourcraft C&A Ltd and Crafty Roo Designs - a positive affirmations canvas.

I started by building the first layer of texture using two Crafty Roo stamps - Code and Harlequin.

The second layer was to add a mandala design - texture paste through a stencil.

Now it's colour time. I started from the outer circle and worked my way in.

First red, then turquoise, finished with Lime green and SprinkleIT.

I dried each layer of colour before adding the next one.

Make sure that you allow enough time to completely dry SprinkleIT - you can see the difference between the wet and completely dry product in the first and second pic above.

Now all you need to do is keep adding Brusho and water until you achieve the desired depth of colour. If you think you've gone too far, spray some water over it and dab it out with a paper towel - this will remove excess pigment and lighten up the shade.

To finish, I used one of the phrases from the April 2018 Monthly Make Stamps Only kit - I embossed it using bright green Ranger powders to contrast with the pink/red background.

I also drew a frame using a white pen.

And that's it! My bright positive affirmation mandala is ready to be displayed on one of the widows in my kitchen - you know, to keep me going while I'm washing the dishes...
