Rainbow Cards - Simple Mixed Media Project

Hello and welcome back to the Colourcraft blog. 

Rainbows have become the universal symbol of support for our NHS and other Key Workers here in the UK at this time of crisis.

My easy mixed media cards would be the perfect way to offer a few comforting words to those around you.

I began by mixing up some Brusho and water in my travel palette:

I took a piece of watercolour paper and blended the three colours of Brusho to create a rainbow.

I repeated this on another piece of watercolour paper and allowed to dry.

I stamped my sentiments using Versafine Onyx Black ink.

I put some acrylic paint into a palette and found a scrap of bubble wrap.

Using a brush, I applied a small amount of paint to the bubble wrap and 'stamped' the pattern onto the card blanks.

Next I used an old bottle top to stamp circles using the paint.

Once the paint was dry, I matted the sentiment panels onto black card and attached them to the card fronts. I finished with a few sequins.

Coordinating scrapbooking papers and embellishments with Karen

I teach lots of workshops and here in France scrapbooking is particularly popular. I am currently working on my new album that I will be teaching for the first time at the end of March and I always like to include different techniques that the participants can apply to other projects. This time I am putting Brusho Crystal Colours at the fore to enable the groups to decorate their own papers and matching embellishments. I had already selected some printed papers (Florilèges Design) and plain cardstock papers so I needed the Brusho colours to coordinate with these. I chose Prussian Blue with a little Emerald Green.

I had already cut some plain white paper to the size I wanted. I sprinkled these with Prussian Blue Brusho Crystals and sprayed on some water then added a little Emerald Green to get the hue that I wanted. I used a paper towel to remove excess water and soften the colours for the background. I am delighted with the result. These papers were used to line the inside covers.

I then used the ColourCraft Tray with its air tight mixing pots to make up some pots of a mix of the two colours in water. I used this with a large round brush (size 9) to add colour to the centre of some white flowers and draw it out along the centre of the petals.

I also added the same colour to the black and white image of this camera. I am very happy with how this album is now coordinated with original papers, matching flowers and on-trend water colouring. I hope you have enjoyed these sneak peeks of the album and that this inspires you to use Brusho colours to coordinate your projects. Simple Cards with Brushos and Brusho Accessories

Hello Colourcraft friends. Gail here today with some simple cards I made with the help of Brushos and some Brusho Accessories.  Did you know that in addition to making the lovely Brusho powders Colourcraft also have a load of additional products to make them even more fun!!  Today I used Brusho powders, the fabulous Brusho Travel Palette, useful even when at home!, Wax Resist Sticks and the Clear Spray Bottle.

I'd like to introduce you to the Brusho Travel Palette, just in case you haven't come across it before.  12 airtight crystal clear pots in a tray.  It's my new best friend!!!  The little pots fit snugly in their wells and now I can take my 12 most favourite Brusho's out and about, or even just in my craft room without worrying about knocking them over or spilling them everywhere.  I also love the mixing areas and brush rests.  As I said, my new best friend. 

I started off with four of my favourite Brusho colours , Sunburst Lemon,  Leaf Green, Emerald Green and Turquoise.   I sprinkled a bit in the pots and then spritzed with water from the Clear Spray Bottle.  Love this too!!  It's a perfect size at 60ml, not too big, not too small, and the spray is fine, but controlled, so you don't end up spritzing the whole table!!  There is also a lock, which means it won't leak if you take it out and about.   

To make my card I embossed a piece of white card with this dandelion embossing folder.  I used the Wax Resist Stick and rubbed it over the embossed areas.  Then I just used a brush and applied my colours from the Brusho Travel Palette pots randomly over the embossed panel.
Loved it so much I made some more!!

OK, I admit I got a bit carried away and forgot to take more step by step pictures.  Top right is the dandelion folder one.  I also used another flower folder, one with arrows and a retro circle folder.  I love how the wax resist leaves the embossed areas white.

I cut the panels with a double stitch rectangle die and mounted on blue card bases.

I love the bright colours with the white embossed areas.  Can't decide whether to leave them as they are or add sentiments.  These were really quick and fun to make.
