Painting with Brusho's

Hello.  Gail here today.  When I first started using Brusho powders I did the spritz, sprinkle, spritz method of application.  Recently I have begun to investigate using them as watercolours, which was the original intent of their design.  I love the range and intensity of the colours, and also that adding more water dilutes the colour making them even more versatile.  Here's what I made today.

I used a Blue Knight stamp called Lovable Panda and Brusho's.

Stamping on grey woodgrain card and I lined up the tree in the image with the woodgrain pattern.  Then when I straightened the paper I thought it was quite cool with the diamond shape and the panda sliding down the tree.  I added a sprinkle of Black Brusho powder to a bit of water and coloured the panda.

I added a sprinkle of Leaf Green  and Light Brown Brusho to water, not together obviously, and coloured the leaves and tree.

I added more water to the Leaf Green mix and diluted it so I could do a pale background wash.  I like how this can stretch the colour palette simply by altering how much water you use.

I masked off the image and wet the corners with water, sprinkled Emerald Green Brusho and spritzed with water.

My sprinkle spritzing had got a bit excessive making the back of the card a bit messy so I cut off the front panel, added a dark green mat and mounted on a silver base card.

Hope you have enjoyed my project today.  Thanks for dropping by.  Hugz

Printing on Velvet med Colourcraft Pastel Pearl Fabric Paints

Hello everyone!
I had some bits of velvet sitting around from making Crazy Quilt kits and thought "ooooh" Colourcraft's Pearl paints would look luscious on these!" Guess what… they do!
I started off with a couple of colors of Pastel Pearls, and some screens from Thermofax Screens. The one in this picture is one of their beautiful stock images, the rest are ones I drew myself and they made into custom screens!!
First I squeezed out some paint at the top of my image, and then I drew the paint through using an old credit card, making sure that the entire image got paint.
I carefully took of the screen and VOILA! I just want to say wow! This really looks fabulous.
The paint has a lovely shimmer that suits the dark velvet, and the way it sits on the velvet gives a lovely dimension.
I had to try some of my custom designs as well.

I was so pleased with the results, that I decided to try a linoleum block as well.

I think these worked great as well!
I think that the combination of the Pearl Paints on velvet really is a match made in heaven and something I will be exploring further.

See you next time!
